Do I need to speak Dari/Farsi already?
No. D1 starts with the script and the basics. English or German helps you understand. D2–D5 build on the levels before them.
Are D1 to D5 a single app?
No. Each level is a standalone app with its own content and progress. They share a consistent design and basic controls.
Can I use Alef Mad on my phone?
The guides and five short demo lessons work in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer. The full apps are planned for the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Microsoft Store. Store links will follow after release.
Do I need an account?
This website and its demos do not require an account. Quiz results and drawings last only while the demo page stays open. The guides explain progress and backup features in the planned full versions.
Where can I find homework?
At the end of the relevant lesson. In D1, homework follows the completion of a letter lesson. In D4 and D5, homework is the eighth and final step.
Is my handwriting graded automatically?
No. You compare it with the template yourself. Writing guidance helps with shapes and movements; it is not a professional assessment.
Are all recordings in Afghan Dari?
Not yet. The audio comes from different sources. Some recordings use synthetic voices with Iranian Persian pronunciation. The gradual pronunciation review is still in progress.
How much do the programs cost?
The guides and demos are free. The plan is for the full D1 app to be free and D2–D5 to be paid apps. Final prices will be shown in each store when released. Full apps cannot be purchased or downloaded on this website.
Can I learn without an internet connection?
The website demos are intended for online use. You can download the guides as text or save them as PDF using the print function. Offline availability for the full apps will be confirmed with their store releases.
Do the levels correspond to official language proficiency levels?
The level numbers describe the sequence of the series. They are not assessed levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) or recognised language qualifications.
Take your progress with you.
A new browser does not receive your progress automatically. Use a backup file to transfer it, separately for each level.
- On the old device: open Progress and download a backup.
- Transfer the JSON file to the new device.
- Open the same level, load the backup and confirm the import.
- Check your progress and keep the backup file.
